Our June meeting was Low Maintenance plants by Matt Tanton Brown from Place for Plants East Bergholt. He had a lovely display set out, a plantsmens’ paradise and opened the evening by stating that there is no such thing as a low maintenance plant as all plants need some sort of maintenance. Outing to Kings Seeds & Green Island Gardens

The Society’s annual outing was to Kings Seeds and Green Island Gardens .  We stopped off on the way for a coffee break at Poplar nurseries Marks Tey, which had the most wonderful displays of baskets and huge floral arrangements. So You Think You Know Gladiolus – A talk by Jill Hazel (May 2018)

Jill lives in a village in Bristol that has had a flower show for the last 82 years. She has exhibited begonias and sweet peas , then the villagers decided to compete with one another and exhibit gladioli. Jill and her husband then decided to buy the Great Western business which was for sale so started growing and selling Gladioli. Ferns- A Talk By Bryan & Gill Smith (February 2018)

Bryan and Gill Smith both belong to the Pteridological Society which is the study of ferns, They first became interested in ferns some years ago on a visit to New Zealand when they saw tree ferns and became hooked.
