The Interclub Quiz is an important date in the Societies’ calendar, when all the local gardening clubs take part. Last year The Oulton Broad & Lowestoft Horticutural Society came first. The Quiz was held at Blyburgate Hall in Beccles. It was good to see so many members of our society present to support our team and provide audience participation. There were 5 teams taking part, Gorleston, Bradwell, Halesworth, Beccles and us, The Question Master was Matt Tanton Brown well known in Suffolk from Place for Plants, East Bergholt. There were 10 rounds. The questions were mainly horticultural though not all and were quite taxing especially the acronyms, one of which was The Naked Gardeners Society the clue being that it happened in Midsummer! The last round was plant identification, most fairly easy for our experts apart from a pot of grass, it was a member of the audience who got it right after tasting it as it had no smell, it turned out to be Garlic Chives. Beccles provided a wonderful spread of food , tea and coffee for the interval and there were plants for sale. There was also a raffle where the plants from the quiz were also raffled. A very entertaining evening. Once again Lowerstoft & Oulton Broad were the winners . Very well done to our team!
